I guess this has been discussed before, still don´t find an answer for my questions. I want to keep my Red baseplate and use it with my ARRI dovetail and all my 19mm accessories as before. In my understanding it just needs a riser for the Epic to match the camera to the existing accessories. I have a very nice machined baseplate from Chrosziel and just seek manufacturers who sell those risers fitting this plate.

Also I am using an ET EVF mount that I attached my Bomb EVF to which worked on my Red. Will it work on my Epic and what do I need for conversion?

Since Red has no strong battery solution at present I plan on using my old bricks and mount the battery plate on 19mm rods as I used to. As I understand the connector on the Epic has a different plug. Anyone selling adapters?

Appreciate any help.

Red, Wooden Camera, Viewfactor in US and Red Europe, Action Products in EU sell suitable riser plates of various types. There may be others, but those are the ones I remember off hand.

If you already mount a Bomb EVF on a Red One/MX, the same will work fine on Epic-M/X. Nothing else needed, although it will cover ALL the built in mounting holes on the top of the Epic. A top plate from one of the above manufacturers will give you additional mounting holes for other accessories.

Only Red have an adaptor cable at the moment (the 2B to 1B cable), as they probably cornered the market in those connectors for a while. I think some of the above manufacturers may sell battery plates with the 1B cable termination though.

Hope that helps.

Jason at www.cinemaoxide.com has created a bunch of products that let us keep a lot of our accessories. I will be keeping a bunch of RED One accessories as a result. Shoulder rig. Top Mount. Bottom plate. Etc.

Note - I do not work for www.cinemaoxide.com. I just like their products.

Hi Eric, Hi Mitch,

thank you very much for your input. This helped a lot. Found the converter cable on Red´s side and think it is probably an idea to have one made or just switch the connector on my batt plate.

Mitch, we´re very close serial number wise. Mine is 2901 so I guess your Epic is already there or close if you chose Stage 3.

All the best and again thank you!

Markus
