Ok, so BBC contacted me today about some skydiving footage. They want some clips to put together a piece on the dangers of skydiving.

How should I charge them? What would you quote for, say, a 10 second clip?

Many thanks, Olly

The price should be defined: A One time usage with lifetime copyright for use in that piece only. Cannot be re-usedin other programs etc. etc.
$1500 seems reasonable for a ten second clip if it's that good, but if it's spectacular it might be worth more. Ideally, position
yourself so you can sell more to them in the future by being on their list of vendors. Cheers.

And limit the term that it can air: Unlimited, 1 year, 6 months, one time use only, etc...
Obviously the longer they want the rights to license your footage the more they pay, gives you wiggle room when negotiating.
