Ok, so I have a RPP set and some really old 1970's Nikons, my favorite lens is the Nikon 50mm 1.4 from the 70's.

What lens set will give me:

1 the look of my old 50mm - soft and pretty, and "organic"
2 small in size and weight
3 has a 24,35,50,85,135mm focal lengths
4 can be used with focus, has gears, or can have gears made for it
5 is wide open 1.2-2.0 f stop
6 is strong enough to take a clamp on mattebox on the front
7 Can work with the Epic electronic mount for focus, and iris control

What is this ultimate lens set? I am assuming it's some type of SLR lens set..canon? Nikon? what?

You don't have too many choices, since there are no mounts for Canon FD or Minolta Rokkor – beautiful old style glass, BTW. Rokkors are very consistent in color, since they made their own glass. Some call them "poor man's Leicas", they actually cooperated with Leica for quite a while, making early zooms for them.

But currently no chance, just Nikon or modern Canon, apart from Cine lenses.

Or go Leica, there's a mount now (or soon).

Then go with the old Nikons.

Sets of cine-moded Nikon AI-S lenses. Have talked with Peter and he seems pretty easy going. I can't imagine he would have a problem with letting you do a mix-and-match lenses between the few different sets he sells in order to get your preferred focal ranges and f-stops.

Also take a look at Contax, which are Zeiss still lenses from late 70's till 90's. Stayed in production till 2005, have coatings similar to Super Speeds, especially the older "Made in West Germany" models. Most of the fstops run between 1.4 and F2 in the focal lengths you asked:

25 2.8. 28 F2, 35 1.4, 50 1.4, 85 1.4, 100 f2, 135 F2.

I have. He's got a 180mm f2.8 ED of mine right now being cine-moded. Like I mentioned earlier, he seems like a really decent guy and would be willing to accommodate special requests.
