  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What should I work on?

I'm an amateur filmmaker, aiming to become a cinematographer. I recently did a no-budget short to practice my skills. If you have a few minutes, would you please watch it and advise me on what areas need improvement?

This was shot on an HV20, with very basic lighting (two softboxes and a few clamp-on worklights).

Thank you very much for your time.

Enjoyed the concept and I think you pulled of some nice shots for an HV20! If for the moment your going to be shooting on the HV20 think about getting a DoF adapter! Very clean footage! All the best in the future,

Oli Williams

P.S - try working on a set that's shooting Red!

Thanks, Oli. I've definitely considered a DOF adapter, but unfortunately don't have the budget for it at a moment.

Regarding Red, in the not-too-distant future I'll be shooting a feature, and are considering going Red. It's dependent on budget, of course. I'd definitely like to get some first-hand experience with a Red first, or at least see someone else using one. I'm going to start looking for Red shoots in the area.
