So far it's put out some of the greatest images for digital even though all of it's in slow mo, so I was just wondering what kind of sensor was on that thing

It is a proprietary design of a CMOS chip. It does look lovely, doesn't it? Some clients are shooting on the camera even at standard frame rates, just for the look the camera gives.

well I imagine it does, and I honestly was wondering if it was capable of performing a standard frame rates as I had not seen any footage that I knew of from the Phantom HD that was in standard 24p. anybody have any links to any such footage?

Here's an SNL Digital Short shot entirely on the Phantom HD Gold -- including the 24p material. This was done to maintain a consistent look throughout the piece. Workflow was to capture the Uncompressed RAW files to an onboard solid state CineMag, then mount the CineMag to a CineStation downloading dock and take an HD-SDI real time de-Bayer in 1080p directly through a Kona card into Final Cut. This was mainly due to a very short production schedule that had the shoot start on Thursday morning and the finished piece broadcast on Saturday night. They didn't have time to download and deal with the RAW files, which in ths situation is perfectly reasonable, although we do now have ways to download those Uncompressed RAW files faster than a real time video playout over HD-SDI.

The quality suffers from standard online streaming compression isue, but I think the clip looks pretty nice all things considered. The feed is embedded from HULU, so I believe it may only work in the US, but the SNL short is entitled "On the Ground" and is available at Funny or Die and several other sites.

thanks a lot! I will say after seeing the clip that it really shines best in the high speed stuff while performing good to okay at the normal rates, at least IMO. cool cool, thanks a lot again!
