  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What PANASONIC PLASMA for Europe?

If you can wait two months, I'd go for the Panasonic VT30. Supposedly these are the first Panasonic screens to incorporate Pioneer Kuro technology.

The VT30 series also have an optional calibration kit that will do full automatic colour calibration of the screen.

I'm also eagerly awaiting the new VT30 plasma screens. Though I can't find any information whether the VT30's HDMI input supports true 10 bit. Also, can anyone confirm if the Black Magic HDLink and/or DeckLink supports 10 bit output through it's HDMI port?

The VT20 is exactly the VT25 but without ISFccc and a RS232C port.
Seems like the 25 will be out in sept

The European VT20 does have ISFccc. I use the monitor with a Blackmagic Decklink 3d+ over hdmi for Resolve. Panasonic Europe couldn't tell me if the German VT20 is the same as the American VT25, but it has the same specs.

The Blackmagic Decklink 3D+ suppoerts 10bit hdmi 1.4.

Hi Jeff, I know this is like nearly a year old on the PF20 but would appreciate your opinion. Where i come from, Malaysia, budgets are not really great and clients expect a lot. Our industry here is just graduating from CRTs to LCD monitors (the last year and a bit). But i have always liked the look of Plasma over the LCDs and for that the Panny PF20, with the dual link hd-sdi, 10 bit, is a cheaper option then, say a Cine-tal or Eiso. My question, how does the PF20, with dual hd-sdi, compare to the Cine-tals or Eiso? Thanks for your time.

David, in what formats can you work with DeclinkHDMI-Plasma setup? I plan on using that same hardware only with Color.

Hi Marin, what do you mean by formats? I'm working in rec709 which is quite well shown by the VT20, grading 10bit DPX or 16bit EXR files. I'm getting the Blackmagic HDLink to use a 3Dlut for the VT20 without Resolve.
