  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What other options are there for powering up my Scarlet X?

Wooden Camera and VF AB Batteries are both backordered, are there any other option to power Scarlet? I have some bricks from my Red One kit, what else is out there? It seems it will be a while before the sidehandle arrives.

Please help.

Thanks!

Still waiting on my side handle so I put something together myself. A marine battery, and inverter inside. Just tested it out with my camera and it runs for 1h 10m.

That's one Hard Core setup you have there!

Very impressive.

Perhaps a silly question, but the marine battery is probably 12 volt. I believe the scarlet runs on 12 volt. Surely it's pretty inefficient to change 12 volt to 120 using an invertor and the back to 12v using the AC adapter. Is there a cable to run the scarlet from a 12 volt battery e.g. from a cigarrette lighter socket?

Thank you Jeffrey! I hadn't consider the Belt clip, but might go route. Do you know if I could mount it on some rods?

Thanks.

No problem Gis. I'm sure you could. I'm not to up to speed on rail and rod systems but I'd imagine you could mount a Switronix plate to it somehow. I think the Beltclip idea is ultimately what I was going to do. But decided to get the VF plate. I'm very happy with it minus it doesn't really feel like my battery sits in it that well. There is no recognition, and I have to push pretty forcefully to get it to lock down. But it works and other than that (which I consider minor) i've had no issues.

If I were you maybe put in an order for a belt clip setup you can get quickly, then order the VF or WC setup and then once they arrive sell the Beltclip setup. I was somewhat interested in the Battery modules but decided I already invested in Bricks and RV's are more expensive for less power $795 for two hours, compared to $450 for 2 and 1/2 - 3.

I'll be sticking with the VF plate for awhile. But belt clip was my second option at the time of order, and that's before WC released theirs. I still would've gone with VF due to how quick it is to install and remove if necessary.
