  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

what MOUSE are you using?

Simple Razer and Wacom Intuos Pro is all I need.

I guess I'm one of those people you don't understand, cause I just haven't figured out tablets yet. Maybe it's because I change computers at work so often that I never get enough time to figure out the best settings for me. Everyone else uses them exclusively, almost being completely confused when they have to use a mouse. Guess I just need to spend more time with them or get one of my own.

The definitive tipping point for me was using a tablet with 2 monitors. Being able to hop the cursor around alllllll that real estate just makes an enormous difference.

The corded gadget here is branded SOMIC S533A with this nice red shiny light underneath instead of a rubber marble which always got grubby and glitchy and sent me insane. If people are in doubt about my sanity, all doubt will be removed after this next disclosure. Due to some limitations of the computer and the house I live in, I am not sitting at a normal desk but a small chest of drawers for telephone books etc., in the corner where the computer is parked. I have drifted into the habit due to lack of deskspace, of working the mouse on the top of my right leg just up from the knee and have worn two pairs of trackies thin doing it. It mostly ends well until fabric lint builds up in the small portal under the red light in the bottom of the mouse. Then things become a bit erratic and the mouse-pointer starts some moves spontaneously on its own.

Wacom Intuos and a Logitech trackball here, mice just don't make sense to me after using a trackball for a few years

I used to use the Logitech Trackman trackballs. Really liked them, the old original TrackMan Marble was my favorite. But that design, like the current M570, is too hard on the thumb with too much use. Had to give them up. The new Trackman Marble puts the ball at the fingertips. I haven't tried it.

$20 logitech, I bought a magic mouse and hated it!!!!!

Just a question to throw out there: Do you like a click-wheel or a smooth rolling wheel? Personally, the click wheel is important to me. Unfortunately, most mice information pages don't say where the wheel is "click" or "smooth". I know the Anywhere mouse can do both, but I found the click wheel somewhat cheap feeling on that particular mouse.

So far, I like the Logitech M305 (I know it is an older version) and Microsoft mobile wireless mice.

[I admit, I like playing Minecraft with a click-wheel]

Logitech MX518 from about 7 years ago and still going strong

I have trouble believing that claim and would enjoy a video of your genius... Mouse and Keyboard are faster than a tablet, productivity is higher for more reasons that need listing... What tablet are you video editing on, color correcting in Resolve with, writing in Final Draft with, even e-mails...

It's obvious by watching a few videos you have more than the basic skill set for editing and directing... I'm holding out of this one and would love to see what your doing that is so much more productive Jordan.

I cant give you any advice on a mouse, but just wanted to say, I haven't used a mouse in years, since moving to a tablet my productivity and speed has doubled.
It is especially quick when working across two screens, I was really hesitant at first but will never look back.

I'm using a Logitech G series mouse. It has more buttons than the common mouse. R and L pointer finders, a scroll wheel with a pretty button, sensivivity scaling and two buttons for my thumb that I use quite often.

My logitech from 8 years ago finally died and I am looking for a new mouse, something solid and accurate and WIRED because I don't like dealing with dongles and batteries and reception.

Which ones are you guys using? Aside from day to day use I'd need it for lightweight editing/grading that doesnt need a control panel, and general data wrangling stuff. I can't stand my macbooks trackpad unless I have to use it.

I was looking at the Zowie FK due to its adjustable DPI settings and no-nonsense design, but wanted to chime into the RU community to see if there are any favorites

+1 for the Magic Trackpad Hack. I don't know what I'd do without my multitouch gestures. I can hardly use a computer without one these days. Somehow, no other manufacturer has gotten track pads as nice as apple. Apparently its harder to do than I thought.

I do have a Wacom tablet and I love it, but only for certain tasks. For general computing, I find my hand aches from gripping the pen. The Wacom mouse-on-tablet is always pretty awful.

Used to use LogiTech MX mice, sort of fell out of favor a long time ago, not for lack of functionality but rather being portable on my laptop.

Stay away from the Magic Mouse form apple. Constantly initiating a multitouch action by mistake. Royal pain.

I have a RAT 7 at my grading suite at home and a RAT 5 at the office. Love them both.

I also have a Wacom tablet in both suites, but I hate using it for anything besides painting/photo editing. It just doesn't feel right.

IMO - For those of us with normal sized hands, I highly recommend the Magic Mouse. Simple, responsive, versatile. Has all the functions of multi-button/scroll wheel. Battery life is good (use rechargeables). I used to use trackballs but they really did my wrist in. Since I got MM, can't bring myself to try anything else.

I just ordered the razer abyssus; but the USPS LOST IT UGH and now amazon is sending me a replacement.

Can't wait to try it out with redcine/fcpx/resolve etc and also light gaming
