Hi I am wondering if someone can steer me in the right direction here. I am going to buy another dovetail so I can switch easily between tripod, Jimmy Jib, and Steadicam. I want to get a dovetail that will balance out a Optimo 24-290 which I occasionally rent. Will the 18 inch work or do I need a 24 inch to balance out the Red with this beast of a lens.
Thanks in advance.

and if they don't have what you need they will probably make it for you :)

I am going to get an ET dovetail for sure. Just wondering what length would be best for the 24-290.
Thanks guys.

I used a 24" comfortably with a MB-14 and a 24-290. You can probably get a shorter one - 18" if you are using a LMB-4 6x6 clip on instead.

Thanks Alex for the insight. I have a MB14 as well so it gets pretty heavy out there. Probably have to get the 24 inch dovetail from the sounds of it.

The company you rent from doesn't provide a dovetail with the lens? Strange...

When I've used an Optimo 24-290 it was on an ET 24" dovetail. Like others on this thread, I'd suggest a 24" is the way to go.
