  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What "Kit" would you bring for whale watching?

Being I am to excited by the actual dating process.... I am taking my GF whale/dolphin watching in a week. Catamaran, so up close is a definite possibility. She has never been to SoCal so this is a big event.

Epic-X

Spray/Splash gaurd
ViewFactor strap
Monopod

Glass?

Rent something with stabilization from BorrowLenses.com? Nothing I own is stabilized.

What I assume I need to bring from my kit:

50-500MM Bigma
11-16 Tokina
50-135 Tokina (2.8)

I have the Rokinon primes, plus others, but seems to much to deal with.

Will prob buy a VariND for ease of use as well.

(Thanks for the look.... Trying to plan so much, thought I would ask of those who do this type of thing on a regular basis)

Definitely a monopod. You're probably going to be running back and forth from one side to the other hoping to get a good view. Shoulder rig might be even better for mobility.
