  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What kind of cable is this?

I bought an old COMTEK M72 transmitter with matching receivers just to stuff into my kit (i'm not an audio guy, but these are good to have), and they didn't come with any cables. I'm looking at this 4-pin connector but have no idea what it is. Google hasn't helped at all either.

It's 4-pins, 2 are female, 2 are male, and I need to find a cable that will connect this to either an XLR or just a standard RCA/similar for a line-out from a mixer.

Any idea?

Thanks Nick! I've never dealt with mouser or anything...

What's the process here? I order that connector? I can't see what's on the other end of that.

Thanks,
BC

You have another couple things to confirm. This is an uncommon connector for a comtek transmitter. You also need to know the pin config, and what voltage this one is looking for. It MIGHT be cheaper to ask comtek to convert it to a standard 3.5mm socket.

Christopher, thanks for the reply...I just called Comtek and they said:

"CB40Inside the LEMO - One and Two - Two Wire shielded cable (Shield to one, Audio to two)
Inside XLR, unbalance the cable. Short pins 1/2 in the Lemo, shield the patches to that connection.
Pin 3 inside XLR, audio conductor
Pin 2 is your audio conductor
Pin 1 in Lemo, is ground/shield"

What any of this means, I do not know...

If you don't know what these specs are, and have never built a lemo cable, get Eric Toline to make this for you, or Wilcox sound. Copy them on Comtek's spec, and tell them what your source device and connector will be.
Eric runs the Ft Lauderdale Pro Sound services office, and makes excellent custom audio cables

You can look up Wilcox yourself.. they are Bubbadog on Ebay

This is not a good first project for you in making cables. I doubt you'd damage your devices, but the chances are you will destroy a couple very expensive connectors.

If you'd rather trade your comteks for some with simpler connectors and cables, PM me.. I may have some options for you. Then it would be my problem to get that cable made.
