  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What IS the status of Scarlet-W orders made during April 2016?

Yea Im in the same predicament I originally ordered a raven jetpack package and when I got ETA of early 2017 for allocation I switched over to a Scarlet-W since my rep said it would take a lot faster to be allocated.
 
I ordered my SW within 5 minutes of its announcement... Just got it a week ago. Had to send it back because the Red Touch isn't working. It's a double-edged sword to get it early.
 
Hi Devin.

We did the same. First, ordered the Raven IO version with extra bells & whistles (additional batteries etc.) then we switched the order to the Scarlet-W. We were told we may have a faster allocation and upgrade path within the Scarlet-W line.

When were you allocated? I think you're the first one I've seen who wasn't a Raven-switcher.

Thanks, dude. It's been a long time but I'm excited for it. Kind of just put it on the back burner because I got too busy to worry about it, at least being busy kept my mind off of it. I thought I was going to get it back in April...

Sucks that you had to send it back, but REALLY happy to hear they are shipping, and some of the first day orders are going out!

A lot of people did. That was before all this limited edition stuff started showing up...
I do have to chuckle at how the RED guys were making fun of the Blackmagic users during the Ursa Mini46 wait and now look who is waiting with no end in sight.
 
got mine in FEB..also im positive there are hundreds of Scarlet-W's out there dunno what u mean

and by "RED guys" you mean members here right? I've never heard of any red employees or management bash or make fun of any other company.
 
Also since you mentioned it, I think its worth saying that when my camera came it operated perfectly when i powered it up and the image was ALL i was expecting PLUS MORE.
not so much from what I've read regarding the ursa mini 4.6

You don't know what I mean because you already have your camera Matt. Josh Becker on the other hand, as I quoted, thought he was going to receive it back in April. It's now what? Almost August! So thats what I mean....
And yes, there were many Blackmagic bashing posts on REDuser during the UrsaMini wait. All of them from users not RED itself.

That's super awesome that your camera worked perfectly out of the bag but go back literally 1 page to Carey's post who had to send his back in for repair after JUST getting it. And there have been quite a few others. RED makes great cameras, no doubt, but they are by no means flawless.
And yeah BM has their problem but there are also UM46's in the field with no problems whatsoever.
 
never said they were flawless, I've read about some problems with the displays. I'm glad I stuck with the 5" monitor for my set up. seems like all being addressed with firmware. But when i read about pixed pattern noise, I/O ports not working, and magenta vignette, I'm happy I went with the S-W for sure, worth the wait.
With Helium being announced, I REALLY think they are going to crank up production on the Raven/SW line and get as many as possible out before October.

I hope your right, at this pace, the Craft camera will be on store shelves by the time my camera ships.
 
when did you order? cuz people who ordered in April and want it now would still make it more than 2 months shorter than those of us who ordered Raven First week it was out then switched to SW.

Edit: Have to admit that craft camera looks pretty dang cool
