Hey Guys,

I was a SLR shooter.. well still am, and I use a steadicam Pilot a lot. I need to know what is the lightest battery out there.. I don't need super run times and this battery would be just dedicated to steadicam work. 20-30min is good enough.

PS. I dont own a sidehandle therefore redvolts are not an option right now.

Thanks
Dean

But thats exactly the most lightweight and DSLR-like option you have, a sidehandle with a REDVOLT, which currently runs for 32-36min (powersaving-modes disabled). ;)
Just saying, you should consider it, really. And not just because it can hold a battery.

I know I know.... I just don't feel like buying a side handle, 2 redvolts + chargers just so I can mount on my steadicam... if that was the case I might as well just sell the Pilot and look for a old Flyer / Scout. Right now (havent tried) I am pretty sure I am at the way upper limits of what the Pilot arm can carry and I like the flexibility of positioning my weights for the shot I need to get.

Is there any v-mount batteries that are 1lb or less?

def third party is your most light weight option

I'm wondering if there were any vmount batteries that were like 30Wh super thin and under 1lb.

I love my Switronix LP 95s, they are under 2lbs and I get about 1hr 45min out of them.

I'm not sure how feasible it would be to have a cord connected to with a steadicam.. it think if its basic movement it should be okay but the cord worries me.

I am actually using the same Swit 95s.. they are great and some what cheap.

I was hoping someone knew about a 30 or 45 battery thats under 1lb or close to it.

I got a set of MG1 95wH batteries and they are light and small. I think they are the smallest V-mount batteries on the market except REDVOLTS.

Thanks for the reply guys. I think we have a winner with the Globalmedia 65W. My only thing with global media is that you have to go to your bank and wire them money, so lame.

Seconding Gunleik's support for IDX. The E-7S has 68 Wh and weighs only 1.15 lb.
Super easy to purchase even from B&H online...
The best part - our product that allows you to mount it in a super compact fashion on the side of RED (and remain more compact then the SIDE HANDLE) will ship in November...
