[(RED) WTB] what is the best way to do a transaction?

A guy is selling a camera but won't meet in person.
He wants paypal and says he is willing to ship tomorrow morning and will let me send e-check that I can cancel if it arrives and doesn't work.
I'm asking him to send me pics of paperwork.
How do I look up ownership? he sent me serial number.

What is the best way to do a transaction on here?

Have it sent to RED for an inspection. Figure out who is going to pay for this as well as the transfer fee. If the camera checks out OK, pay with whatever method makes you both happy. Then have RED ship you the camera. You get a 90 day warranty too. Otherwise forget it IMHO.

I purchased a used epic package from here and we used http://escrow.com/, it worked well but there are some fees associated. I think it was 200$ for the seller and I had to pay 30$ wire transfer fee from my bank. For the level of protection I would say it was well worth it. I will use again for sure.

I would Vet the person first and for most. He/she needs to answer every single question about the item. And what Bob said is better... have em SEND it to RED! Keep ur guards up no matter what though cuz these cats getting slicker my the day. I had 2500 held up for almost a month through paypal.
