  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What is the best way to compress a movie for Sundance as a Quicktime movie under 2GB?

Hey guys,

Going to be submitting out 80min feature to Sundance this year. They require a Quicktime file under 2GB for uploading.

What are my options here? Anyone done this, or something similar?

We're going to be editing in PremiereProCS6, and grading in Resolve Lite, but also have access to FCP 7 and X, and we're working on both Mac and pc.

I hear handbrake and format factory are good?

ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks

Handbrake is a great little free app. You can custom output frame size, bit rate, etc. It encodes to mp4/h264, which is a decent codec. Trial and error. Start with a higher bit rate, then keep decreasing until you've got it under 2gigs.

Once you have the file, you can then zip/compress it, which decreases it's size a bit as well.

Pro Res LT could also be an option too.
