Just wondering i'f a Moderator, or anyone really knows what RED Digital Cinema's Official position is

regarding companies whom manufacturer 3rd party accessories for RED?

Since RED gear is so incredibly modular and diverse i've noticed so many people getting in on the band wagon, which is Great

But will this effectively void any warranty i may have with RED?

I'd only assume that RED has an agreement with certain companies to conform to there certain standards and compatabilities when

designing there module accessories, but thats an assumption i make????

Basically if i bought a Brand new Ford and took it to another dealer to fix and something went wrong i'd void my original warranty

I ask mainly because i Love Element Technica's additions to RED , and View Factor Studio's APU-AB Battery plate!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can not comment for RED.

It's pretty safe to say that if it does not plug in to anything electrical then it's probably ok.

I'd just check with RED if it has anything to do with electronics.

Cheers David, i think i'll have to contact them directly regarding this matter

I would imagine battery plates would be fine 99% of the time.

Lens mounts generally cause warranty issues, although jarred mentioined anything that is "dumb" ie not electronic Is fine.

This is something I would love to know; I already am capable of manufacturing cinema gear and do so now, but have never done so for RED. I'm very curious and will try and reach out to their team when we decide to get started on our RED related projects.

Try googling "warranty law". There is federal law governed by the FTC and usually state warranty laws as well.
