  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What is light? Light as wave and particle!

But that looks like a 3D graph of topographic coordinates not a photo....

Kind of hard to get what we know as a "photo" at the level os sub-atomic particles. LOL

Read the article and watch the video for an explanation.

LoL, I did read the article! I'm just pointing out how they keep referring to it as a "Photo" when it obviously isn't.....
Especially when we know that photos can be generated by electron microscopes.

I really do think it is as much of a photo as you get when using atomic microscopes and the like. And that is what they call it. Maybe we should call it a "picture." :-)

QED by Feynman is a really great introductory book about light, in the book the way that things like lenses and diffraction are explained are really quite amazing. The concepts in the book can be used to explain all electromagnetic phenomena (which is the basis of light, chemistry, basically all of human reality). It was also a model that agreed 100% with experimentation (within some small statistical error) and I think that might have been a historical first.

I guess I was expecting something more like this:

There are a series (three, I think) of videos of lectures Feynman gave on the topic available online. Very entertaining, interesting and accessible to non-scientists. Worth a watch...
