The Audio Technica AT-4053b works well for the price.![]()

I agree Chris, thanks for selling me yours! Often wondered what you're using now, did you have multiple or now use something even better?
The Schoeps CMC641 is very high on that list, but there are sound mixers who prefer the Sennheiser MKH40 or MKH50. I'd consider all three to be in the "BMW / Mercedes / Lexus" category -- all good, none bad, each with pros and cons.
Much more depends on where the microphone is placed and what kind of environment you're in rather than the microphone alone. In some cases, a wireless lav may yield the best results, and in others, a hyper is a better choice. I often wind up doing both, with the lav as a backup in case the actor turns his head or we otherwise miss a line.
on a budget, you may also consider having Jolly modify an Oktava MK-012 with hypercardioid capsule.. it will get VERY close to schoeps sound at that point..
also, I like using an AKG 460 with a cardioid capsule for interiors..
+1 on Senn MKH50 and Schoeps mk41 capsule as the very best in this type of set..
the mkh50 will sound a little more "present", the Schoeps will have a gentle fade from on axis to off axis.
The AT 4053 will be sort of like the MKH50.. though not quite as nice.. it is a good value as well.
I do not personally like the capsules for the sennheiser K-6.. I find they sound brittle and thin in comparison to all the other mics listed.
