Checked the online store and I was confused to see that the size of the cards had changed to 480GB and 960GB.

Just curious if anyone knows what happened.

it is claimed that it is the same amount of usable space so no worries. the 480 is in theory the 512 and the 960 is the 1tb

They dropped the price with the newer cards which I think have about the same usable space as their predecessors so it's a win for us. Thanks Red!

Can confirm that my 512GB is exactly the same 480GB of free space as the newer card (I have one of each). Better for them all-in-all, as I'm sure they don't have to explain why storage naming standards are the reason why the 512GB card was not actually 512GB.

I assume that Red purchased the SSDs in volume to ensure a fixed price and that they have inventory for a long period of time. When that supply runs out, they go with what is current on the market. This is often why the price and size changes. New product comes with a lower price point. The older drives showed up as Micron in Windows, when I go to eject them. Not sure what the new ones are. I plan to get a couple of the 960s myself.
