  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What exactly is an "allocation"?

Does RED call you or send out an email, before they ship your Scarlet? Or is it just shipped and billed to the same credit card/address you put down for your deposit? I've read the FAQ but it says you can contact them to charge a different card.

It's worrying because we haven't heard from them, even though we've requested changes to our shipping address and credit card used for the balance. Our SO number is coming up. No response. No Bomb Squad contact.

Is that what the "allocation" email is for? To confirm all the info - I thought they don't confirm anything unless you contact them. But it's seems hard to get through to anybody. Is calling the main number the best way?

Just trying to get more info on the process so our camera doesn't get sent to the wrong address / and wrong credit card used. Thanks.

It means a camera has been completed and designated to be yours. It's the time where billing is taken care of and details are confirmed with your Bomb rep prior to shipping.

Oh, so they do confirm billing info and shipping address. I thought (from earlier threads) that they just ship it out without confirming billing info to be efficient. But time passes over months for these items and things change. So it makes sense that they actually confirm the info.

Thanks.

I already pre paid for all my stuff and have had RED products shipped to me without an allocation e-mail.

Gavin's Sticky FAQ that's posted here may be incorrect then:

"Will RED contact me before processing and shipping?

No

If your order is all set when you come up in the delivery queue we will process, and ship."

The link to Brent's post:

"Our old process was contact every customer for every order every time. And customers complained they had to double and triple confirm orders and wished we were more "normal" - if they placed the order, it meant they wanted that product - so process and ship. New process, if we don't need to bug you, we won't :)"

Jason, with each Scarlet order so far, we have given people a heads up before it ships if they need that one last chance to change anything. But most other orders, like smaller accessory orders, we just process away.

Wow. Thanks for the reply Brent! That makes sense. Sorry to keep you up man. I thought others could clarify but thanks for the direct response.

No problem at all, Jason. We will continue to evolve our whole order fulfillment process as well.
