  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What DSLR, OR Mirrorless camera could work as a B-cam for MX epic?

I have a shooting for multiple movement shooting in a day.

Location is secured only 7 hours, and we are in a super tight timeline. We are expecting to shoot 5k with Epic, in general with a tripod. - Down scaling to HD.

However there is a long take tracking shot- monologue, (We have only 35- 50 min to shoot this)

One of the shot I need to use the gimbal and we really don't want to waste our time to set up gimbal after shooting. So I think we could use some other small cameras to cover the gimbal tracking shot. - In this case we could save set up time a lot - its just ready to go.

I have heard A7S is a great camera, and it could shoot 4k, and Gh4 with it's 4:2:2 10 bit module seems work for here.

I really need your help to make this happen!!

The reason why I don't shoot on Scarlet with M10 is that - our budget is too tight for that - according to my producer

Depends on what you can get ahold of on short notice. The GH4 has worked for us, but the HDMI latency can be a little annoying when shooting 4K.

A7s would be your best match in a dslr. It has 14 stops of dynamic range and can capture in slog. The GH4 is only 12 stops of DR. The closer you can get to matching dynamic range, the better. Shoot in slog and match in post.
