Totally agree with these priorities.

But to the extent that the solution to component sourcing is to get Japan production lines rolling again, those who jones for Scarlets and Epics share a cause with our friends in Japan. Economic disruption and closed production lines (being out of work) adds to the disaster's stress.

I assume it would be quite difficult to price anything accurately without taking deposits down as a method to figure out the total initial order size. I mean if they get 20,000 deposits as opposed to 5,000 I am sure it effects price greatly because they can buy bulk while knowing what their estimated figure is on raw materials much more accurately than if they made multiple stages (which prevents them from knowing the final total figure of the stages combined orders). Rather than limiting the order of the product into stages, they can have everyone preorder at once, but prioritize current customers over non red owners still of course. That way they get a pinpoint figure on how many they will need, therefore what bulk deals make the most sense raw material wise. Personally I believe this camera will sell quite well, no matter what the final price point is, but by being able to get accurate order figures sooner than later will help with "scales of economies". Whatever that means, I only took intro business courses...

Obviously I have no knowledge of where or if additional sourcing is available, or the extent of the damage to the needed facilities, missing personal, etc. All we can really do is pray for them and be understanding with Red as well as the many other companies that will obviously be affected by this terrible event. I am willing to wait for this product no matter the timetable, price point, etc.
