Sorry lenny, I'm not in the market, but have to agree, I would have killed for this camera 3-4 years ago. makes excellent pictures.

ours works constantly.....really a good price too.

Digital television is now a reality. It can show pretty much any format you could throw at it. 720P, 1080i HD, 480i, 480p SD. I see all formats being shown on a daily basis as I watch my shows. Also the internet as well. Not everything you watch needs to be in HD. Of course it would be nice if everything was shot in the best quality possible but is it really necessary? I still rent PD150's like crazy. I have been seeing the old tube video cameras coming back. I still have a VHS camera that I just might put into rental. It is great that we have so many cameras to choose from. Every one of them has its own look and purpose.

I was with ya until you got to this one. Although, perhaps with some good lighting, an immediate transfer to ProRes, you might be onto something. :-)

I agree. It's an incredible time to be in this industry.

While I have no knowledge of this particular SDX900 camera, I will say from my experience of purchasing a Kino Flo Kamio light from Lenny, that he takes care of his gear.
And speaking of taking care of gear, I see Steve Gal has chimed in here.
If I remember right, it was George Gal that used to take care of all my Eclair NPR and CM3 cameras oh so many years ago.

But the HD is a standard for acquisition.

i may have to disagree with you here, at least here in the US. As of today, ABC network, CBS network, Univision network, and i am sure others that i have not worked for, are still shooting SD. sure, ABC and CBS have HD shows, but their networks news shows, such as Good Morning America, 20/20, nightly news, etc, still shoot their field stories in SD. don't ask me why, i don't like it either. i had to go buy a used SD xdcam on ebay so i could continue working for them.

This is exactly what I am talking about. News on location, not in the studio and mostly reality shows are mostly shot in SD. Some commercials as well and I am fine with watching that. Not a big deal for me although it would be nice to see everything in HD it is not ruining my experience at all.

Hello Mr. Jones. My father has been retired for a few years now. We still carry on his legacy and do still get NPR's in for repair as well as bolex, Arri, Aaton, Super 8. I wil tell him you say hello.

let me know if it does not sell. I might need a b cam for my SDX.

Hey Lenny,

The SDX900 is my absolute favorite standard deff camera! I have 3!

Still loving your 60mm macro! ;)

Where do you get all this stuff?

Cheers,
Rich

boy, i am running into all sorts of old friends here. i am glad that macro worked out for you.

Dang I wish I could buy that camera and go back in time with it to 2004 or so. It was the best of the best for SD/24p tape acquisition...

camera is still available. $4,000 is my best offer. cash, check or bank transfer only, no credit cards or paypal at that price (you can, if you add 3%). buyer pays for shipping.

you don't have to travel back in time, this camera still stays busy ( I have another one )

I love the SDX900. Along with the Varicam these were the first Panasonic cameras we had in rental and they were great long term performers.

A little while back we mistimed the purchase of a new SDX900, which we still have in rental but doesn't go out much. I agree there's still work out there for onlocation TV recording. Maybe we'll sell it one day but I can't contemplate that for only $4000.
