  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What do we need for Premiere CC? Still need to install Red importers and such?

I´m having problems rendering a project from Prem via Encoder (CC both). Crashes after a couple of minutes. Same project works fine in CS6.

What are the obvious tweeks I need to do in CC? Do we still ned the Red importer and all that?

Mac Pro 2009
GTX285 and 120
Mountain Lion

Yes you need the red importer. You also need the red importer loaded in the AE, Audition & few other as well.

Also when you update to version 6.05......apparently you need to reload the read importer.

Is it the one from 2012? Or is there a newer one? Do you have a link?

Mike, you're talking about 6.05? That's CS6, right?

I´m talking about CC (version 7)

Update:

Just found out, that the Media Encoder render failure happens, when arrives at a frame blended slowmo clip.

Anyone know?

PS.
I tried installing the Redimporters from 2012 into Premiere CC and Media Encoder CC, but as I opened the project, the files couldn't link, so I reinstalled.

Just to clarify - the Red Epic Importer from Adobe Labs is not needed for Creative Cloud versions of Premiere Pro, AE, AME etc. Support is built in natively for the latest color science. Previous versions before creative cloud do need the importer installed however.

In regards to your error, I'm not 100% sure. I would probably try exporting directly from Premiere and see if you come up against the same issue. Does sound a little strange that it works fine in CS6 and not in CC - definitely makes me think there is a bug or some quirk going on. If worst comes to worst and it's just one clip that's making it stumble, you could try sending it over to AE, Rendering it out there and then bringing it back in? Not a fix, but perhaps a workaround that might get you out of trouble if you're on a deadline.

If the problem is repeatable and crashes at the exact same point, sounds like something that might be worth reporting as a bug and seeking some extra help on. Even if only so that Adobe have a log of it and can fix it for future versions :)

to be clear! DO NOT install the labs release on CC. We have Epic built in. On October 15th we have Dragon Built in. No additional downloads needed. Please send us crash logs so we can look.

Cheers

I just installed CC and I can't get RED Color 3 or RED Gamma 3 to show up like they did in CS6 after the manual patches. I tried the manual patches on CC, but I had the same problem as Thomas. Can anyone edit RMD's with RED Color/Gamma 3 in the CC suite?

Also, I tried opening a Pr project from CS6 that I had used Color/Gamma 3, in Pr CC and for those clips "Source Settings" is greyed out. ...and "send to SpeedGrade" is taking a 4 minute sequence with 18 edits, like 30 minutes to transfer.

OK, I see... after a few hours of trouble shooting and searching on line, I discovered that the Oct 15 date was missed and that update I just ran wasn't the big one. Will there be any notice when it comes out? Because it's back to CS6 for me until then.

Try this. If using CUDA acceleration, go into the project settings and turn it off. KEEP your preview render files though. Then try rendering that little section in software mode. If it works and comes up green, turn CUDA back on, KEEPING all render files, then try exporting.

If the export fails again, this time, select the 'use render preview files' option and then export.

Make sure you send in the log file for bugs to be fixed :)

AFAIK the media encoder failure is only happening with the legacy timewarp effect (enabled through the debug console)

rendering straight from PPro will solve this

David McGavran:
Any chance we can incorporate the old timewarp effect back into PPro CC ?
I mean its sitting there waiting, just needs to work in media encoder again.

Most of us need pixel motion interpolation for any decent slo mo.

Just to update this thread, the Adobe CC patch went out late last year and RC3/RG3 work great now.
