What do I have to look forward to after Build 16?

[Rick Darge]

Old age?

[Andreas Fernbrant]

Build 17?

[Stephen Williams]

Old age?

Hi,

Getting your EVF!

Stephen

[Graeme Nattress]

Sleep? Maybe that's just me.

Graeme

[Pawel Achtel]

Sleep? Maybe that's just me.

Graeme

LOL.

I guess that's fair. But, knowing you guys, you probably won't even if you could.

[Jean Déraps]

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the RED;

Shakespeare, Hamlet, 1603 (with slight modifications 2008)

[Martin Weiss]

Sleep? Maybe that's just me.

Now if Red did indeed come with built-in sleep, that would open up a whole new market segment. Imagine 1 hr of sleep at 120fps, that is like 5 hours of realtime.

Pruducers, rejoice.

(crew would be paid at the 3fps rate)

[Martin Weiss]

Or are you suggesting that the Red will get a stand.-by function?

[Gunleik Groven]

Nope, that's not on the agenda
The problem is that the whole RED crew are insomniacs, and thus the camera was built to suit their needs. (2 minutes forced sleep every 1,5 hours for the operator during batterychange/reboot.) That gives 32 minutes of relaxation every 24 hours, which according to the cigar smoker - after talking with accounting - really think is a bit too much.

Thus the faster boot-times in build 16.

Sleep? Maybe that's just me.

Graeme

sleep mode? sorry, couldnt resist....
