  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What company rehouses Nikon?

Almost no one as it is a huge pain in the ass, and would probably be more expensive than buying cine lenses. What focal lengths/lenses are you looking at?

Nick

Panavision did a few I think, not that there much chance in buying them.

perhaps duclos? typically they just do front caps, mount changes, destopping, etc. But maybe they would be up for this? Do you want direction reversal as well, cuz that will get pricey quickly I hear...

hard to find, i did research a couple of years ago: dedoweigert, vantage (they rehoused some nikon zooms for "bourne"), etc... they either said no or want to charge euro 15.000,00 +

main problem with nikon is the difference of distance to the sensor, so you would actually talk the lens apart and then it is more a rebuild from scratch as a rehouse ;-)

but i am open to new research ... please keep us posted!

It might be worth contacting these guys in the UK. They do some custom lens work:

There are certain lenses that are easier than others. It also depends on what you mean by rehouse. For example the eastern enterprises lenses were not in PL mount. If you are looking for full on cine conversions with PL mounts, it's really expensive and a complete rebuild. One of the big problems is the dramatic differences in FFD for nikon and PL mount. It makes changing mounts more difficult on most lenses.

specifically a 58 mm 1.2 Noct... an amazing lens. Full cine conversion would be desired. just curious

There is a guy in Korea who is doing rehousings and PL mounts for about 1200-2000 per lens. I haven't seen him do many nikons, but he has done a bunch of canon FDs lomos contax and other stuff might be worth an email. I'll see if I can dig it up.
