Hey...
Played around with the camera. Have some footage. Looks great in Redcine. Apply a look, set to render, and export a Quicktime. Regardless of settings, the Quicktime is cropped, squished, noisy, and black-and-white. I've tried H.264, DVCPro HD, both 1080 and 720.
Hmmmm...
Slushed back to QT 7.3, thinking that might be it. No go.
Footage is 4K 2:1. I changed the settings in Redcine to match. No go.
Attached is a screen grab.
Cheers,
Harry

Hi Harry, what platform and video card are you using?

Update...
I can export a frame in RedAlert! (see attached) but still no luck in Redcine.
This is all on the iMac.
I'll slush back to QT 7.3 on the Macbook and try that tomorrow...
Should I have deleted some pref files after slushing back on this machine? I just used Pacifist. Seemed to go OK. I feel like it must be something I've done here...
Cheers,
Harry

Hi Ryley...
It's on an iMac 20" with an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT.
Funny... it seems like in the past I have played with other R3d files that people have posted, no problem...
Cheers,
Harry

Have you tried deleting the program settings located in /Library/REDCINE? Redcine will recreate these files when the program restarts.

I should also add that although I can make a frame export, any Quicktimes with RedAlert! are just white. Scrubber bar moves but no picture...
H.

Ryley,
The whole "settings" folder in ~Library/Redcine?

Yes please. well...how about just deleting the contents of the folder.

Right... did that and rendered a new Quicktime. Same result. Black and white, noisy squished and cropped...
It's got to be a setting here.
Or maybe I should trash and reinstall RedCine?
Cheers,
Harry

Can you post up your Redcine log so that our experts can take a look.

Thanks,

Graeme

Hi Graeme...
Where is the log? How do I find it?
I'll look in the meantime ;)
Harry

Hey, I think I found it.
In Library of the root folder in Redcine?
I've attached what I believe is the correct file.
Cheers,
Harry

OK, now on the Macbook...
I can export a Quicktime that looks correct but is a freeze frame.
;(
Harry

OK, reinstalled and reloaded on the Macbook. Output fine! (finally)
Now to work on the iMac.
Is it me, or is Redcine squirrely?

I would definitely try deleting the entire Redcine folder out of your library and reinstall it. Also, if you can tell me the settings you are choosing in the project and output settings I may be able to help.

Kevin

Hi Kevin.
The funny looking clip is 4K 2:1, which is what I chose for the project format.
I tried outputting to 1080 and 720 Quicktimes, both motion Jpeg A and B as well as H.264 and DVCPro. Same result each time (see pic at beginning of post)
It looks great it Redcine and plays fine (although not full frame rate obviously) Just gets funny on export.
Did you guys check out the log file?
Weird how it did not work on either machine but suddenly was OK on the Macbook. I'll try deleting and reinstalling, but I'm shooting the next few days so it will have to be this weekend.
Besides the app file and the Library file, what other files/folders do I need to delete in OS X for a clean reainstall?
Cheers,
Harry

Just wanted to bump this back up...
Graeme, has anyone there looked at the log file?
Kevin, my reinstall question?
I won't have a chance to reinstall on the iMac until this weekend.
Cheers,
Harry

It fixed itself...
Weird...
