The hungry will be fed:

Western Digital upgraded their portable USB3 "MyPassport" series to 2TB for $250 a piece.
MyPassport

They also offer a thunderbolt version of their desktop dual drive raid "MyBook" : 6TB for $700 and 4TB for $600
(quite a bit more expensive than the firewire version)
MyBook

just thought I'd share the news.

i strongly suggest you stay away from WD...had nothing but problems over the years, i hate to say it about any company but never a good experience with wd..

+1!!!!

I have had WD drives fail at a rate that is about 4-5 times more frequent than Seagate, with some of them lasting less than a year. I won't buy them anymore.

FWIW, I've had exactly the opposite experience. WD's have been rock solid for me *knocks on wood*.

yep, they are pretty much a burden... NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER upgrade their firmware, they tend to brick easily...

+1 on liking WD. haven't had any issues with them whatsoever. We have quite a few at the university as well. No problems yet with those

One of my girlfriends external drives broke down once, got replaced within a week or so with a newer one. No problems there either. So that's one out of 30 or 40 in 5 or 6 years. not counting the ones my friends use.

Not saying its your best bet, just saying that until now I can't complain at all.
