  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Well. . . we just did it. . .

I don't expect we'll be accepted to the festival, but I could not be more pleased with "Works in Progress."

... Making this movie was the hardest, greatest learning experience of my life. And that includes my Ph.D.!

Wish us luck.

Yeah, moviemaking is the most complicated thing I've ever explored. It's so simple at one level, but it's endlessly deep once you get your big toe in the water. And the marketplace is so fickle.

Sundance is extremely competitive and even if you get into the competition is doesn't really mean much more than some serious bragging rights. But that's better than 99% of us will get and it would surely lead to great connections.

Congratulations and Good luck!!!!

@MikeBurton... the last date on your list is Friday, September 25th, 2009. I'm not seeing where Stephen has any more time. Not in that post anyway.

If your film does not arrive by the deadline for which you have registered, you will be prompted to make an additional payment in order to bring your account up to date.

Guys, I'm conforming and color grading a film in Scratch right now headed for Sundance with some well respected actors and producers. Read the above statement straight from the Sundance website. You can submit works in progress to Sundance and you can submit films past the deadline however, there will be a greater fee than the normal submission fee for doing so. Better not to be late if possible but if you need the extra time than you DO have that time at the expense of a few extra bucks. Guess no one reads the fine print anymore.

I'm pretty sure that Mike has misinterpreted the "fine print." True, you certainly can send in an updated print after the original has been sent in, but there is absolutely no mention of any later date, or any indication of a later date, than today, September 25th. Unless Sundance is saying one thing to one person and another to someone else, unless they have a reel of some kind in their hands by 5:30 today, you're on to Sundance 2011.

The time for the "paying more money" for a later date ends on the 25th of September.

Stephen

Congratulations Stephen. Getting a movie completed is a huge accomplishment. Very few that start their first one ever get it finished. You are one of the elite. Salute.

. . . we just submitted our very first feature film to the Sundance Film Festival. We got it to FedEx with, quite literally, no time to go. We ended up having to send someone ahead to the district office and they held the truck open for our package.

I don't expect we'll be accepted to the festival, but I could not be more pleased with "Works in Progress."

Yes, it was our very first film (we had never so much as made even a short before, and had never been near a film set!), but, Lord willing, it won't be our last. And I can tell you this much: We're shooting the next feature on RED cameras, too.

Wish us luck.

Stephen

Congrats dude! BTW. didn't you posted a message on gearslutz saying your film needed some Audio post work? Also, what about color correction? I remember you saying you shot this on two RED cameras (one of them you already sold)... Did you submitted that to Sundance?!?!?!! Good Luck might not be enough...

Congratts man.. fingers crossed for ya :)
