We should probably not take credit for this. We should be appreciative of the fact that they are actually going to take charge of a very promising product that can actually be one of the best tools on the market.
To the former product manager I wish you good luck in your new position or future endeavors; this was just not the job for you.
To the new applicants or new product manager, Premiere Pro is no small product moving forward. Professionals are willing to pay up to $1200 for a solid Professional work horse product. This is 100% true. Read the forums around the web you will see we mean business.
1st day on the job you should hire for a five month period about 12 professional editors 1 from a news organization, one from the motion picture industry, 2 from the corporate editing industry, 2 effects editors, 2 online finishing and conform editors, 2 assistant editors, 2 creative and intuitive interface designers, 2 colorists, and 2 all round professional users.
What you’ll need to work on are the basic editing features all editors want, time code, overlay, adjustment tracks, effects/tracks a 3D engine/interface, 32bit float, better Adobe Bridge integration for advanced data management, masking, tracking, keying, feathering, color grading/ correction, quality control monitors. Rotoscoping, proxie editing, XML etc. Create an sdk where third party plugins and hardware manufactures can add other powerful tools. Sound-booth and premiere should be one program, nobody will buy soundbooth as a stand alone there are plenty more powerful tools out there, but soundbooth still has little tracking EQ’ing and noise cleaning/reduction tools that editor’s demand.
