  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Welcome to the New Guy!

Thanks Ketch and Jeff for your kindness, and Joseph for starting the thread.

She's a cool chick and is probably the most creative person I have ever met in my entire life. The next time she is run and gunning with a red I'll take a picture, its quite a sight. She can definitely hold her own.

I am still convinced that there is a little twist that woman bring to the table. Female directors, cinematographers/photographers and definitely editors.

start with remembering your 1st contact when starting down this road and how you wanted to be treated.

Easy to understand, sometimes difficult to remember.

Jim

Is incredible!, I been following this forum for a long time, I participate some times, is intimidating some times the knowledge here, but reading what Jim wrote & seen the Scarlet closer to be a reality I get more & more enthusiastic.

"Gracias" every body, Thank you Jim. :bigear:

I've been following the forums for the past few years and have been hesitant to jump in, feeling I would have little to add to any informational threads. I've learned a lot from you guys and I appreciate your willingness to share. The fact that Jim is on here so often (and really even at all) blows me away. This company is quite inspiring and these forums have been extremely helpful. So, I feel I must jump in, in hopes that I might at least be a member of this community.

Again, thanks.

This really exemplifies why RED (and RED User) have really blown the doors off the industry. This is so darn fun! As always, thanks Jim and team RED.

When I first got here a couple years ago, I knew nothing. Even worse, I knew no one in the business. But I made a conscious decision just to ask all the questions I had openly, and not to be embarrassed about asking noob questions. I did not know anything about crop factors, image formats, PL mounts, Bayer patterns -- nothing.

But no one ever clowned me for asking basic questions. Probably 90% of what I know about filmmaking I learned at Reduser. And probably 90% came from David and Graeme. :cheers2:

great post, Joseph, with a very kind spirit behind it...you oughta refresh and renew it every so often. ditto what debbie said for girls, though, these lighter cameras should bring a few more females into the mix...

Having left "Hollywood" nine years ago I have to say that Reduser has been a life line that has kept me going in times of feeling isolated. It has also been the highlight of my day when Recon loads a new post.

I hope to meet many of you at one of the Red events - you have all become virtual friends of mine and I appreciate the quality and respect of the forum towards everyone.

Thanks Joseph ... really appreciate you posting this. Even though I'm technically a "senior member" -- I'm still very much a newbie and only joined the boards a 5-6 months ago. Yet due to people like Ketch, David, Jeff K, Steve, Pawel, Sanjin (LOL), of course Jim and Jared I've learned an insane amount in a short time. And I managed to "manifest" (forgive the new age lingo) a Red One, probably in part because I was so obsessed and passionate about it. If there's anything I've discovered it's that this is THE place to be for filmmakers passionate about both art and technology.

Besides, on a more selfish note, you never know -- the next Quentin Tarantino may be posting here as a newbie right now. Everybody matters here and this forum attracts more and more talented people everyday :)

Welcome. You'll notice that the door closed behind you. It does not re-open.

Welcome to the twilight zone.

Doo Doooo dooo dooo....

Sure felt this way a lot of times...
Sometimes when you do read around other technical sites, even slightly touching on digital cinema, you often find yourself thinking "they don't have a clue".

This is the spirit we can all embrace at reduser. It is, I believe, the positive and excellent experience that Reduser is.

Thanks to you Joseph for the reminder to stay open, be kind and share knowledge.

David

Joseph, you my friend, are the man.

To everyone who has/will iterate that this place is a source of learning, I will 100% attest to that statement as I myself learn a ton of new things on here every day. It's funny, 1st two years of film school I spent on here learning about everything camera wise, then my school got 2 Red Ones, and now I spend most of my time on set learning how to light in a pretty/story-fitting way to show off how wonderful these cameras really are.

I'm honestly blessed to be going to school and having this kind of tech to work with...well, that and lucky as hell. ;)

Cheers to all newcomers! And don't every shy away from asking a question, it'll only hurt you...
