Hey folks,

Recently noticed a decidedly different pitch in our MX's fans. A much deeper, loud hum with the fans - something that had never been there until yesterday. No performance or heat issue so far, but thinking it might need a check up right quick.

Anyone else ever experience this? Is it just a matter of getting the bearings re-lubricated? Something more sinister?

I would definitely contact RED support as you are bound to get a 100% faster response than posting here. Give em a shot, they always rock for me.
 
It could happen that there is a bit of dust sticking to the fan.

You can unsrew the two plates at the bottom with holes in and can then use some 'ken air' to clean the fan. Do this with the camera shut off!

We had a shoot in Iraq where there was a lot of dust. We had to clean the fan this way almost every day. The more dust inside, the louder the fan was becoming.

Eventually our fan was replaced during our MX-upgrade.
