Im waiting for my Epic but want to buy Induro hihat before i get it as my friend is in US and they are half the price there then in Europe so i need to decide between 75mm bowl or 100mm bowl. If I want to decide on that then I need to decide what my "big" tripod will be like. My shooting style is somewhere similar to this one: https://vimeo.com/74264577 - stripped down rig, motion mount and even XL Revolts instead of V-lock. I did try to calculate the weight by whats written in the specs but from experience i know its always stuff a bit more. Epic brain around 2.5kg + lens 1.5kg + +1 modul, XL modul, XL revolt, montior, side grip, EVF,... -3kg and im at the 7kg mark.
So can you guys tell me what your stripped down rigs weights.

Im choosing between:
http://www.manfrotto.com/midi-cf-system - payload 7.5kg - weight 5kg
http://www.manfrotto.com/pro-single-cf-kit-100 - payload 12.8kg - weight 7kg

if you have any other suggestions i would like to hear. The most important thing to me is that the tripod doesnt weight too much as I fly around alot and exrtra 2kg is alot.

Thanks,
Uros

Red Epic Body+SSD Mini w/Mini Mag
Red Ti PL Motion Mount
Red XL Battery Module
Red XL Redvolt
Red Side Handle
Red Redvolt
Red Oled EVF + ET Mount
Red Top Tactical Plate

I use this 509 Manfr head with a set of Sachtler CF legs on 100mm bowl. Fab. These are a double-leg style and very torque-resistant. And weigh nothing.
Would hesitate to use the 100 kit you spec because I think you will find the mass of the camera will cause flexing with legs extended.
Since you prob want to use your new sticks for a long time, might be worth a set that is more substantial so you can add to the camera rig as needed in the future too. Maybe settle for a heavier stick set and buy a solid mono-pod for the more extreme stuff.

The 536 sticks are carbon fibre as well and at least in my opinion the better part of this combo. It is definitely usable for the EPIC, of course it´s no sachtler, in the end you´ll always get what you pay for.

Cheers!

would you suggest any other head? sticks? combo?
If the tripod lasts for 2years of airport beating and all that im more then happy with it. really the most important thing is weight. specially flying cheap european airlines,... it can save you from 20-40eur one way. 10 flights - 400-800eur. almost new set of sticks :)
Sachtler Speed Lock CF HD are 4.5kg just the sticks. im really looking for something i can put on my backpack and hike a mountain too :)

Sorry, I did not intend to scare you off. As others already mentioned the 536/509 Combo is a lightweight solution and has an excellent price performance ratio. It´s in use here since about two years and I would buy it again but I won´t use a "smaller" manfrotto. My comment about the 536 sticks beeing better that the head was meant in a positiv way as they are really solid for their weight.

Cheers, Ulf
