Hey guys,

Pardon my ignorance but I got a Scarlet-W on order and considering an re-up to Weapon. I had a specific question about footage cleanliness/noise. I heard a lot how clean Weapon was at 2000 ISO. I assume that Scarlet-W would be just as clean because of the same, weapon platform and sensor. This correct? Or is there some different circuitry going on that I'm not aware of? Or is it 6K down-res for delivery making the super clean images?

Thanks for your time,
Chris

Many people use S35 lenses on Weapon, and many of those lenses don't cover 6K, though some cover 5.5K. Having made the shift from EPIC DRAGON to WEAPON, I will say that almost all the cleanliness people talk about is due to the WEAPON's system vs. EPIC. It is not a change to the DRAGON sensor (which remains the same), and not substantially due to 6K vs. 5K. The SCARLET-W should be a great camera, and all you need if your focus is S35 lensing.

I have worked with all these cameras minus the raven. Scarlet-W can deff hold its own with the 6K cameras as far as clean images. Having said that, if I had the choice and money was not a problem i would go for the 6K every time

Even at 5K, the Scarlet-W is very clean, just like the Weapon. The Weapon may appear "cleaner" at 6K simply because the grain isn't proportionally as large.

This was all 2000 ISO that I shot:

Thanks for the info guys! Looking forward to joining the fam.
