  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Weapon on Movi NIGHTMARE?!?!?!?!

In theory if I could deactivate the front port one could use the side port and hdmi simultaneously?

no, I can not, it only works with the front port LCD / EVF not with side port LCD2 / EVF2.

Vincent I recommend you take the WOden camera weapon top plate, is extremely useful;)

So for the record, there are no options to deactivate the front port that I can see. In the advanced monitor control menu you can select either LCD/EVF2 or HDMI. Selecting HDMI kills the EVF port. Selecting LCD/EVF2 kills the HDMI port while EVF (left side) port is active.

Very lame.

The only option appears to be as others have mentioned which is to use the front port. Its just not ideal because of the interference with Movi's top cage, and having to refigure those nice 1/4 20 holes on lemo adapter A I used to mount the vlock on the side of the camera.

Very lame.

?Nightmare? hmmm ... i have a m15 i just tested today with a magnum weapon. I used 6.2.51, connect a 5 inch touch monitor into the side of the weapon using the A adapter (using the flexable movi cable), and run the sdi out the baseIO for focus (i'll be doing a paralinx arrow test tomoroh, but everything has been smooth up to this point). I didn't even really need to think hooking this up, it all magically works and the touch interface is great. Only thing I find wierd is that the jetpack didn't come with SDI, so i need to use the baseio for now.

Have you tried the Wooden Camera Top Plate that has 2 Lemo Connectors for 2 RED Monitors, use the Base 02 for SDI/HDMI feed and power to a battery clip vmount or attach the V mount to the side/top handle?

Damn, sorry to hear about this. I don't have a DSMC2 body yet, but I'd say try the Wooden Camera Top Plate Option. It routes the ports from the side and the top to the right side. That might get you what you need to run both at once. That's a pretty big "gotcha" though, I figured with the upgraded processing you'd be able to send signal to 3 outputs at the same time.

The weight loss is probably really great on the MoVI, but it seems like the ergonomics and real world use have been overlooked a bit on the DSMC2.
