Typically, low budget (or no budget for that matter) projects require the cinematographer to strip down to the necessities in order to streamline the shoot as much as possible. That's where there is confusion, in that people (directors, producers, cinematographers, etc) think that a RED camera requires so many support crew that it's cost prohibitive.

Well, that's not the case at all. Many years ago yea, that would have been accurate, but now, with today's technology and RED pushing the industry, it's easier than ever.

I always love to have a support crew, but with today's market, companies are cutting everywhere they can. Yea, it's more difficult working with less or alone, but don't let that limit you creatively. It can be done.

It just goes to show that one-man-band videos can sometimes be the most challenging, yet rewarding at the same time, if you let it be!

This was a quick turnaround (24 hours) piece that I shot/edited for my church's food bank - to help raise funds during their golf tournament (which is the only funding they get to run the food bank for an entire year).

Shot in 8K 2x anamorphic 6:5 - Schneider 2x anamorphic scope and Helios 44-2 taking lens with new single focus solution.

Edited/Graded in FCPX

Added Gorilla Grain as well

Nice work, Chris! How did you record audio? And what lens is that in the photo?

Funny to see your camera in the fridge. Much like the old days of buying film in bulk and stocking it next to the food. Do you find it keeps the image fresher this way?

I just used a Zoom H1 and a RODE Lav Mic. Pretty inexpensive audio setup, but not having to show talent, I was able to get the mic pretty close.

Yea, sticking the cam in the fridge does improve the image...quite a bit actually

Great work, great story.. Nice Chris

Thank you!

Nicely done.
I know it's a highly political topic but my (I'm not citizen of the USA) point of view is that the USA, as one of the richest country in the world, shoudn't count on individual sacrifice and heroism to take care of the homeless.
There is enough money out there to collect taxes and distribute in an organised manner to the poorest of the country. Food of course but also medical care. I was shocked to see so many homeless in SF that really needed medical support.

Sorry to put my foreigner 2 cents.

Great that there are some heroes with big hearts in the US!

Thanks Pat. Yea, the world we live in today needs help more than ever. I just wish there were more people like this guy (Mark) out there.
