Hi guys,

Have tried a search and couldn't come with too many answers about this subject.

Just to clarify, I've read this page http://www.red.com/warranties section F, but still missing some info that I could get from a RED rep, but thought it will be good to share here.

People sell shit loads of RED stuff here second hand and many items are almost new, but IF there is no warranty that is something to consider.

Let's say you buy an i/o module from someone that got it with his i/o package, it's basically brand new and suppose to still have almost a year of warranty, if it breaks, would RED honour the warranty? or would only the original buyer could do a claim?

Which brings me to another question, let's say you are on set and has zero time to speak with RED, you have something that has stopped working like say LCD monitor, you bought it directly from RED but can't reach them and want to let production take care of it, would RED ask you to email them a prove of purchase? or they check serial number and if it's still in warranty they just fix it?

Thanks for all your help!

I'm not sure if anyone cares or maybe everyone have the answer and knows this, but thought I will just put it on here for future reference.

Spoke with RED Europe, and they clarified that if you buy any second hand items even if they are almost brand new and still have warranty for the original buyer, they will NOT honour the warranty, unless you're the original buyer.

I guess that in some cases you might be lucky and RED will honour the product warranty but don't count on it.

So to conclude, if you bought a one week old i/o V-LOCK module or a memory card and it broke from some reason 3 days later, and you can't contact the seller for him to ship it to RED, you will need to pay for the fix.

In a way it does make sense, but would also love to hear any RED official representative on this matter as with other brands when I bought used they still honoured the warranty on the product if the product still had one.

So the warranty is given to the original buyer and to for the product?
What's about EU LAW?

Great to see someone else joins in :-)

As far as I understand Raphael, what you wrote is correct. I'm not sure if EU protect you in case you didn't purchase the goods yourself and have receipt , I do know that EU gives you 2 year of guarantee which is a bit different then warranty.

Wish someone from RED team could please comment on this.
