When the RED ONE was announced, we were called a scam.

When EPIC was released, we got everyone's attention with its price/performance/size.

The stuff we are working on now leapfrogs the imagination.

I am holding things in my hand that are conceived from Mars. But will be made in the USA.

Mindblowing...

Jim

Jannard....you damn tease.... :ihih:

I doubt it.

If I were interested in what the industry was going to do... I would watch right here. Recon. This is where you will see what the future looks like. IMHO.

Do you really think that Arri or Sony is going to deliver the future?

Jim

That is why I've hanging on your every word since before Recon (or reduser, for that matter) even existed, for this very reason.

Quite a few of us have been shoe-horning our beautiful 4K+ images into lesser delivery systems since 2008 (a few since 2007...). RED has already climbed the Annapurna of acquisition with the EPIC and is now heading towards K2 with the Dragon (climbing metaphors comin atcha....). But the next revolution is undoubtedly....DELIVERY SYSTEMS!

They have created the most flexible imaging system in the world. Let's see what they can help us do with it. Let's see how RED catapults us out of the matrix of puny delivery systems into a freshly-imagined delivery universe.

I think Michael Cioni gives us a few hints in his LAFCPUG presentation, without ever speaking the word "RedRay": 1) 4K is the new 3D 2) "beginning of the collapse of broadcast television" 3) standardized resolutions and aspect ratios will disappear 4) prepare for customized geometric monitoring

These words are burning a hole in my ear.

C'mon Jim, spill it!

Happily drinkin the Kool Aid since October 2006. Please kind sir, another round!

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there is soon a "Red Theater Center" occupying the property on the northwest corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland here in LA-LA Land. You Red guys with all of your Red-hype, look what you have done now! You are giving "Hype" a good name. The times, they are a changing. Fasten those seat belts boys and girls. "RED-hype" is a secret codeword for "Take it to the bank", just don't tell anyone!

Good to hear it Jim!

The "Depth" channel you guys mentioned already has mind blowing potential. I cannot wait to see what else you guys have up your sleeve!

Insert 21 pages of ridiculous speculations and arguments over things we know nothing about.

He hath said what he can say without saying too much . . . save for "Something really cool is coming."
Which, of course, we already knew.

This is RED. There is ALWAYS something really cool coming.
"Int. Mad Scientist's workshop, Irvine. Late night. The floor is littered with Red Bull cans."

What other camera company generates such passion for its products that owner's proudly name their cameras? I still hope to own one myself someday.
Hopefully there are some more modestly priced options similar to the original Scarlet in the future mix too.
A lot of us doc, nature, and action sports shooters would still love a 4kHD @ super 16mm/ 3k @ 2/3" version with higher frame rate options than Scarlet-X. No fixed lens necessary, just PL and B4 mount options. For those of us more into non-narrative, non-theatrical production markets.

Red has conquered Hollywood, now for the rest of the world.

yeeeeeeeeeeeee i love it,,,, RED TEAM THE BEST;)

RED amping up resolution cannot be the story. That could not get Jim so excited. That's bread and butter, no? (For RED that is, for the others, its Nectar from the heavens they cannot get) It has to be something else. Maybe something that blows the whole workflow debate out of the water. It has to be a systemic upheaval. DISRUPTION baby!

Oh, also, my seven year old daughter came up with a name for my brand new EPIC-X! Any idea if I can get it engraved onto the body or would that void my warranty? Waiting for the lens and media but even without them, its totally a thing of beauty. ;))

Mr. Jannard, if what you hold in your hand might have the power to make the likes of Sir Roger Deakins put down his Alexa, walk away from his Arri 535, it will no longer be hype. And I will know we've indeed arrived at The Promised Land.

This makes me so happy to be a red owner

If it involves an upgrade option for Scarlet I'm in. I love the camera but would love to be able to upgrade it in the future for more fps and lower compression rate.
I wouldn't mind paying more to get more. It could have more than one upgrade option.
Something like:
- Option 1: Upgrade the sensor (+some basic electronics) for USD X and get limited fps and high compression rates (like it is right now for Scarlet X)
- Option 2: Upgrade the sensor and ADD more processing power for USD 3X to increase the fps and lower compression rates and call it Scarlet XXX. hehehe, ok the name could be something different ;-)

That would make me happier than having to sell my Scarlet #92 and get a new camera or putting it away.

Thanks for listening Jim.

All I can say is that the other guys better be busy... very busy.
