If I were interested in what the industry was going to do... I would watch right here. Recon. This is where you will see what the future looks like. IMHO.

Jim

Two of my favorite Quotes by George Bernard Shaw you should hang them in your office Jim.

"Some men see things as they are and ask why. Others dream things that never were and ask why not”

" All great truths begin as blasphemies"

Isn't this usually the point when Jarred usually jumps on Jim to prevent his excitment from spilling secrets? ;)

Come on Jim, if not the big secret, just hit us with a small one to get us even more fired up... just a little morsel....

What boy doesn't dream of being able to look into the future and "go places no man has gone before."

Thanks for giving us a all a window seat in the RED time machine Jim.

Best

Lliam

Do you really think that Arri or Sony is going to deliver the future?

Jim

Arri and Sony are conservative, they don't deliver the future, but they have a grip on the market and do sell a lot.

Expect us to lead... not follow.

Jim

That's nothing less than we xpect from you ! Hehehe!

You're still being a tease ;) but somehow I like it. Though I do miss the old announcements, it's probably better this way. At least for RED it definitely is ;)

I guess Jarred at last got you tied up for good. Heheheh!

looking forward to the "real" announcements...

Keep on rocking!

Jim. My biggest wishes at the moment?

First: I wanna hold my Scarlet in my Hands down here in Germany and shoot amazing pictures!

Second: faster reseller and technical service from RED here in EUROPE to feel bit more save in case of repairs and upgrades etc.
If i will have a problem with my CAM in future i don't want to send it to US for 1 or 2 month. Service is so important for PRO's...you know that :D

I think better EU service etc. will blow up your customer range in Germany, Austria, Swiss, France etc. ;)
A lot of people want to buy RED Cameras and use it but they are afraid of buying from "so far a way" and won't have service next door.

Third: more solid software /os ...sorry for this but i think reliability is the biggest "must have" on location!

and for sure...i want all your crazy new ideas (Dragon, Modules etc.) ...lol

thx for reading!

We need a redvolt made with the last new battery technology who fit the dmsc module and last 2 hours and can be charged in 15min, to keep the small factor of the cam for very long shot used.

Hi Karl, congrats on your scarlet order.
re your concerns, well, you dont have to be afraid.

pinewood is top! in every regard. best customer experience i ever had. alan, sam and ivan are incredible. they also do repairs and can ship assecoires. over night.
re software...well, redcine x crunches terabytes of footage everyday in combo with my rocket.

get a rocket, was the next best thing beside the camera i bought.

When the RED ONE was announced, we were called a scam.

When EPIC was released, we got everyone's attention with its price/performance/size.

The stuff we are working on now leapfrogs the imagination.

I am holding things in my hand that are conceived from Mars. But will be made in the USA.

Mindblowing...

Jim

Red Digital never disappointed me, delivered always beyond our expectation and its service is excellent, I can't find any complaint.
My problem is: this becomes a little bit addictive substance kind effects. So I have to pull myself back to see myself, not Red Digital.
Anyway, thanks Jim!

Appliciated,

ok thx kaya. i had contact with alan too. he answered e.mails all time and i believe in them doing a great job. they will become much bigger i know...after the flood of scarlet users i think there will be more time on general issues. so i will wait ;) i think the RED user network is big enough to support each other. nice to read about RED UK support and your experiences.

Great news!

ah, When will Stage III Epic be completed?

How about blasting everybody and just send the Stage III's out in the order that the RED ONEs and money comes in?

Basically, RED will now drive the future.

Arri and Sony no longer have the leadership position. They can only watch and react to what we do.

Don't believe me... just watch and keep count.

Again... mark this post.

Jim

I think we are gonna need more money, ok back to work now have to get ready for this.

Jim -I've been with you a long time. Perhaps not from the very beginning (I was shooting a feature on 35 in the middle of nowhere without internet when reservations started happening) but we have multiple Epics and my MX (still a great camera), and all those lenses and AKS too.

I'm sure I could be called a fanboy, but it's easy to be one when you lead the industry in change.

I have one of my very own features shot with 2 of my Epics, with RPP's and 18-85 zoom. The results have been fantastic. We've got sales agents wanting to take on the film and we're starting to sell territories as a result of the assembled film. Yes my script had to be good and I had to get great performances out of my actors...those things happened. I combined them with shooting with the Epics and HDRx and people think my film looks like 35. We're also starting to get invitations from major festivals. I hope we will be able to generate a 4K master to show people how good this concept of Red can be for the independent community.

I've been waiting on RedRay and whatever authoring software will go with it so you can record/encode one's masters to it. Giving the artist and professional the best tools right in their hands is a noble vision. It keeps getting better and I thank you for that. You're a leader. Doing so includes you hire and retain the right people. If you're excited it means staff have the right buy in and are being inspired to innovate. I'm sure it's happening; your post is the consequence.

So glad I was paying attention and made the investments in Red over the years.

Does anyone know how big Jim's hands really are?

:-)

Stephen

I just love waking up to these little "bombshells" from Jim! RED is on an amazing mission...glad to be along for the ride...
