I'm DPing a shoot in June and for some interior scenes I want to have warm sunlight streaming into a house (kitchen, living room) but the interior have a blue cast.
So shooting some HMIs though the windows, having a little bit of atmosphere to catch the rays (which I want warm) and then having the actors lit with light that is blue in cast. So kind of the reverse color you would see in a classic nighttime scene. I want the interior to be low key, I am not trying to have a sun cascading in and bouncing off everything look. I've never lit anything like this and of course I will be able to run some tests but in advance of that I would love to hear some opinions of how to get this look.
Specifically how to control the light entering the room so it doesn't bounce everywhere. We will have good production design and I'm pushing to go as dark with the walls as we can which should help.
And what would you use to light the actors in the room that will be easy to go blue in hue?
My mind goes to shooting the HMIs though straw or some level of CTO and then using kinos with maybe 1/4 CTB inside and a lot of negative fill.
It's low(er) budget so I don't have the world available to me but I'd welcome all suggestions. Thanks!
