I just raised the offer from $2000 to $2500. I cannot wait for the new bomb EVF to come out because I need two EVFs now.

Maybe you are planning on getting the new bomb EVF when it comes out and want to unload the older Red EVF.

Please call me right away if you are interested in selling. I will be leaving the country on March 20th and would like to complete the transaction before then.

I hope to hear from you soon!

HELP, need to rent or buy Red EVFs & 320GB drive

HELP, need to rent or buy Red EVFs & 320GB drive

Red has made several comments about discontinuing the old Red EVFs. I expect as soon as the new Bomb, EVFs come out, the old Red EVFs are going to be phased out. I personally am fairly happy with the old EVF, but anyone interested in upgrading to the Epic, may want to unload the older EVF. I am leaving the country to film overseas and am interested in buying or renting two EVFs from Mar 20th to April 20th. If you can help, please PM me right away. I am offering $2000 for the old Red EVFs each. I also am looking to buy the older discontinued 320GB red drive. Again, the new 640GB capacity will certainly be a better fit for Epic. I need only 1 of the older 320GB red drive. I am offering $500 for the old drive. Please PM me if you are interested or contact me on my cell.

This offer cannot last forever, as I am leaving town on March 20th and need to complete the transaction before I leave.

Please call me on my cell at 775-232-7951 or email me at ldill@peppermillcas.com

Thanks, I am sure we can both benifit from this deal.

I remember a post a couple weeks ago where someone wanted to buy a Red EVF at full price so there must either be a backlog or shipping delay. On Red.com, you can't buy one at present as the Place Deposit and Add to Cart buttons are hidden. I think the EVF's are holding their value pretty well and will continue to hold their value for some time. I'd say about $2,500 minimum for a used one and $2,700 for one in excellent condition. When the new Bomb EVF's come out, they will ship in order of original camera shipping date and there will likely be a long waiting list with delays. Some people will likely get their Epic or Scarlet cameras before they get their EVF's just like happened with the Red One.

As for the Red RAID drives, I think you overestimate how much people want or need a bigger drive. I know I wouldn't want to shoot more than 320GB on one drive without backing up. I think those will hold their value as well. Just like the EVF's, they still solve the core problem as well as alternatives.

I'm not saying this to discourage you, perhaps you will find a seller but it's been over 24 hours since your first post and no one seems to be jumping to sell at your asking price. If you really need this gear before you leave, I would highly recommend raising your price or simply asking people willing to sell to give you their best price. If the EVF is backordered or not available for purchase (because perhaps RED closed it out and the Bomb replacements are delayed), you might need to offer full price for a used one unfortunately.

The current EVF has been on back-order for some time. Not sure what's up with that. And the new BOMB EVF is still unavailable. There were a few EVFs for sale over the past month or so, but for now I don't see too many people willing to let them go.

I agree, the EVFs are holding value well. But, we all must realize they are discontinued. How long do discontinued items usually hold their value? If someone is planning on upgrading to the bomb EVF, this may be a great opportunity to get nearly all of your value back. I agree with the above post that the EVFs are worth $2500 at present and am now willing to offer the $2500 each.

I might be able to part with my EVF and ET mount, both in perfect condition. Never really have used the EVF much at all, but rather the LCD screen. If you're interested, send me a PM and we can talk price.

Hi Lonny:

Anytime a valuable, useful, one-of-a-kind product is discontinued and the replacement is delayed, the value can often go above original retail price simply because people are shooting high-budget films and commercials and if one goes down or they need another, they'll pay a premium to have it on set tomorrow. In the case of the RED EVF and the BOMB EVF, even once it is available, there will likely be a backorder and waiting list that exceeds new camera deliveries. People are buying new RED One's every day and can't get an EVF and many must have one.

My recommendation again is to just ask if anyone will sell one and if so, for what price. If you keep trying to set the price, you may not find one in time for your departure date.

Hope that helps.

I'll sell mine for 2500$ I'm in Toronto, almost mint condition. It's slight flash of a green lens chart on boot up, which I've read people having that at bootup all over the forums. It doesn't affect the images at all while running.

100$ off if you're in Toronto and I don't have to deal with shipping.

PM me.

Cal,

Thanks for responding. I would like to keep the purchase domestic. I still need one EVF, I purchased one today. If I don't get any responses by the end of the week, I may take you up on your offer.

Thanks!

Yes, I too don't have an EVF to sell you, but I'd like to add to the length of this thread and generate hype that will increase or maintain market value for a piece of electronic kit that will soon be made obsolete by an upgrade.

Ghetto-Tech solution:

5.6" Red LCD plus this thing from Optitek looks sorta interesting and fairly cheaper:

Not a fair comparison, a "2" feedback? I wouldnt buy even if I needed one

Looks like that auction ended with a whooping ZERO bids.....I'd have to guess that it was not likely because of the merchandise, but the 2 rating as well as starting bid of $2950. Those two things coupled together are a recipe for non-sale
