I'm looking for a Nikon D800 NIB or used in like new condition. I have two on order (one at B&H and one at Amazon), however, I have little confidence that Nikon will be shipping them out anytime soon. I've been browsing eBay but I'd much rather purchase one from someone here on REDuser rather than elsewhere (of course, eBay would be Plan B; or rather, Plan D).

I ordered about a week after announced -- from Amazon -- no word on my D800 yet. Hopefully soon.

Looking to sell a D3X and a D2Xs. ;)

I'll sell you my D3...

Hehe... Thank you for offering Bob, but I think I'll pass. =)

Oh, my... That's even more concerning! o_O

By the way Evin and Jeff, did you both go with D800s or D800Es?

I went with the 800E but they there is less of a difference than originally thought. I primarily shoot architecture and landscapes so I went with the "E".

Here's a nice right-up:

Ah yes, I was reading that a few days ago. He did an excellent comparison between the two.

I shoot a lot of HDR sets and panoramas in the hundreds-of-megapixels range, so I decided to go with the D800. (Errr... I mean, I will be going with the D800.) I thought it might be easier than having to correct a few hundred/thousand images at a time for moiré and color strangeness.

By the way, I wasn't ignoring you by not asking you which one you went with; it's just that I had seen your post on Facebook! I know that looked a little off; sorry! :-)

Straight 800 here. I didn't see a real advantage to the 800E. In situations where you have to post-process out the extra aliasing and moire, you stand to lose more detail than if it were mitigated optically. The 800 makes more sense for the widest variety of shooting situations. 800E could have a small advantage if you are always in controlled situations or have complete control over what sort of detail you're always shooting.

My D800 is going to be used mostly for long-exposure and time-lapse work. But also for general stills shooting when I want the full-frame sensor size and/or I don't mind the larger camera, but maybe still don't want to use the EPIC.

I ordered mine from Adorama the day of the announcement and have not received mine yet. I read in an article that Nikon raised the price about $700 in the UK. Checked Ebay after reading this thread and the most of the prices are stupid high. Maybe Nikon is dragging their feet in North America as there probably were many pre-orders, and this may have not gone down too well with the stores that accepted deposits for the D800 at the original MSRP. I don't know.................but I feel like a dog waiting for dinner on this one.

The deamand for this camera is stupid high! I've heard that even working at full capacity they won't be out of backorder till fall.
I hope I'm wrong because I got a regular 800 but I now realize there's really no downside to the E. I've shot my M9 without an AA filter for years now and never had a single problem with moire. I'm impatient though so I ordered the 800 since I thought it would come first. I'll switch when I can get my hands on an E.

Yeah, I ordered my D800E the same day it was announced, but no word from Amazon yet. I later ordered the 85mm f.1.8G and got it as soon as it was released. Still waiting for my D800E.

We shot New Mexico's new summer campaign videos on three D800's over a 10 day period in March. I tried to get them to roll RED, but the Director/DP (my good buddy) is a Nikon guy and had access to the cam. I got to say for DSLR video the Nikon D4 and D800 are the most operator friendly cams out there...and I love the nikon primes (cant wait to get the nikon mount for my Scarlet)! The DP, Corey Rich, will have a Blog with info about the production some time soon.

If you ordered the camera, I'm sure you'll be happy with it!

Those are nice campaigns. I have to admit, I bought my D800 for stills but the video capabilities are a nice surprise. Hmmmm, now I wonder if I should keep my GH2?

Check Fred Miranda. They pop up there regularly. Just make sure the seller has 100% positive feedback.
