  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wally Pfister video interview

My thoughts as well.

Besides with film its more than just resolution that people like about it.

See my post on the last page. The figure can easily be arrived at just by looking at publicly available mtf charts. Conveniently, it's what real-world tests have shown, too.

That said, the fact that Pfister's shooting anamorphic complicates things since the lenses aren't as good but the sensor is twice the size.

There is an American cinematographer and director Ron Fricke who did all those high resolution stuff decades ago in BARAKA and of course as an independent filmmaker didn't won any Oscar.

When I start to compare BARAKA with any of those neo Hollywood high-resolution movies shot on IMAX or similar high res I mostly consider that the latest were as a

pure crap because it's mostly missing any relevant and valuable human idea, have often a very bad story and content with a lot of violence on the screen and also pretty flat messages involved in it.
