  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wondering if any of you folks have had any issues with this card after you machine goes to sleep? I am on my second card from Dave now. It works fine until my mac 4.1 goes to sleep. Then it will no longer boot with monitors attached to the card. If I boot with mons attached to the GT120 then it boots up and I can hook up mons to the 470 after start up. Card works great before I step out for coffee and my machine goes to sleep. I now have it set to never sleep. But the card is still half baked. Dave are u out there?
 
Are you running Lion ? as we have the same or similar issue with the new build of Lion.
 
Hey Folks - Sorry for the late reply. Thought I would get an email alert of other posters.

Running 10.6.8 not Lion here. This card was running great until my machine went to sleep. If you do get this card the first thing you need to do is set your machine to never sleep and you won't have this problem.

Tim - I tried deleting the apllegraphicspowermanagement.kext file. This let the machine run the start up sequence and just at the end the machine freezes and I need to do a hard re start. I would love to get this card working again. It was great while it lasted.

GTX470 questions

Has anyone else had a sleep issue?

I am unable to recreate a sleep issue here. I have left my 4,1 sleeping overnight (while I did) and it woke just fine with a 470 in.

I have basic instructions that come with the card and additional info on my site.

Nobody other than Chad has ever written to me with a sleep issue and I am unable to recreate it here.

Nobody has written me with a GTX470 failure other than a guy in Ventura who had simply not installed the driver when he re-updated to 10.6.8.

Never had a failure or a return.

If someone else has an issue with a GTX470, please post it here or email me with it.
 
I have got the sleep issue on 3.2GHZ mac pro 8 core with 32 GB ram. I pulled the kext file and comp booted and workied for a while then froze after sleep. have not had a chance to address the issue

actually mine is the 480 from ebay
 
Hi Paul - How do you mean "comp booted"? How do I do that? Thanks!
 
Update - Got the card to work again. Not sure how. Zapping PRAM? Pulling the card and putting back in seems to help with a few restarts. Once the card is running my monitors it was fine with email, web stuff, compressor, PS 5.5, AE 5.5 and fed the BMD card to the HD monitors both HDMI and HD-SDI. Worked fine. However the machine would freeze and need a hard restart if I launched FCP7, Resolve Lite 8.1 and Premier Pro 5.5. Each time the machine would freeze on the splash screen to each app. Never got the app to load.

Paul - Have you had any luck with your card?
