Hello!
I have a Vocas MFC-1 Follow Focus with an M0.8/36 tooth drive gear. It is basically brand new - it comes in it's box and it hasn't been used with a lens yet, just fiddled with and mounted on rods to make sure everything worked. More info here: http://www.vocas.com/products/mfc-1
It is really solid, yet very light and low profile with zero backlash or play, as well as being reversible for Nikon lenses. Rental houses carry them because of their low weight and high durability.
By the way, I'm only selling this because it's my third one and I don't need three anymore.
In the interest of full disclosure, I did notice that on this copy you could slightly feel the internal gearing from a certain range - however, Bas Ladru (the owner of Vocas) assured me that this would not be noticeable: "We adjust the follow focus with the most attention to having no play. This results sometime in the feeling you describe. The rougher feeling you describe can be felt when the follow focus is not attached to a lens, but when used in real life the rougher feeling is not noticeable anymore because of the friction of the lens itself. I can also assure you that once the unit is run in after a while, it will run much smoother." So there you go.
If you'd prefer, though, I'd sell one of the ones I've used - which are perfectly smooth, in the same working condition (zero backlash, etc.) with just a little bit of cosmetic wear.
The B&H price for both the follow focus and gear is $1288. I'd sell them both for $600 shipped in the US (or plus shipping elsewhere). Feel free to make an offer as well.
I also have several of Vocas's flexible gear rings and Cinevate's gear rings if you need some.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
