  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Visual greatness...

Saw it yesterday at midnight (opening night in Mexico City) in IMAX 3D and was blown away by the movie itself and by the quality of the image. Hadn't seen and enjoyed such a good movie in a long, long time, and not much else comes quite close in terms of image quality.

Congratulations, Jim. What you have achieved in just 6 or 7 years is a truly remarkable achievement and is now an important part of Cinema History. Thanks for letting us be a part of it.

Much respect.

Congratulations Jim. It looks amazing. Saw it twice already.

I'm so glad I have the little sister scarlet and leica lenses, what beautiful grain it generates!

Prometheus is an example of visual greatness. Shot on RED.

Wolski did an incredible job. If you ever wondered if RED was up to the task... this is proof.

Ridley's comment was "film grain is so 1960's". Keep in mind that Ridley has shot only film since his beginning... until now.

Wolski and Ridley are shooting RED on their next movie. Wolski's comment... "Epic is the best camera I have ever used".

We are so proud.

Jim

Awesome to know The Counselor will be shot on Epic! Cormac McCarthy is the best writer out there (finally crafting a screenplay!), Scott one of the best directors, and Epic the best camera. Seriously looking forward to this one. It will fly under the radar for awhile.

Great success! I was actually curious if they gonna choose Red for a 2D feature, cause in 3D world there's almost no options except Epic in terms of size of the rig and mobility. Too bad in my IMAX 3D we got only 2K copy of Prometheus (looks a bit softer on a giant screen), still amazing visuals.

Perhaps the most amazing part to me is being able to own the same camera... not to imply that owning the hardware is enough to make anyone a Scott or a Wolski, but having access to a tool is the first step to learning to master it. If it were up to Arri or Panavision (or Sony or Canon for that matter), I am certain that cameras like this would still be out of reach for most of us. There is a lot of great work to come which simply wouldn't have been possible in an era where the 535 was king.

So congratulations to Red for the mainstream success, but also a huge thanks for keeping the price below what Super16 used to cost. I believe Jim is personally responsible for this, and for the tremendous generosity surrounding upgrades - hopefully he hears it enough, but I for one am sincerely grateful. I'm not sure how many of us will ever do work on the level of Scott and Wolski, but I sure appreciate the possibility!

Congratulations Jim, that's got to feel amazing. I've been dying to see Prometheus and finally have time to go tonight, can't wait!

Agreed - stunning visuals and after seeing the BTS grading presentation @ RED Ed on Wednesday night (that included B/A shots) I am more impressed with the images out of camera. RED is the camera of choice for this style of film.

Visually stunning in a way that is hard to comprehend congrats to Red and Mr Scott … now if they can just do something about having a less predictable script and a reliance on gore to keep the viewer interested. The C-section scene was pretty killer though. 10 outa 10 for camera work B+ for the rest … just saying.

Congrats! I saw it at the midnight premiere in IMAX 3D. It was absolutely stunning and to think I was only seeing about half of the EPIC's 5K resolution just blows my mind. IMAX needs to upgrade their digital projection system so we can see films like this in their full 4K glory!

That's incredible feedback from two men at the top of their game. Glad to hear it.
