  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

VirtualDub meets Redcode RAW

but when i load from video>filter>load> the ok button never work
any idea??

Not exactly sure what you mean. The filter does not have to be "loaded" from the menu, it is called automatically when you open R3D files with the "Open video file..." (Ctrl+O) command.

If you can see R3D files show up in VirtualDub's "Open file..." dialog, it already means that the plugin is loaded and ready to accept them.

Thanks Gabor, it's a great tool !

A little question : is there a way to convert these r3d files to QT files using your plugin, Virtual dub and Avisynth/FFmpeg ?

I tried to load your plugin into Avisynth/FFmpeg which has a nice QT DNxHD export feature but it doesn't seem to work? Do you have an idea to make it work ?

Thanks,

Jean-Charles

I have not yet looked at the AviSynth angle. I had the impression that unlike video filters, VD input plugins are not suitable for AviSynth. I might as well be mistaken here. Time to do some reading...

I want R3D integration to FFMpeg :)

I haven't thought about it too much, but since there is now a RED plugin for AviSynth, you can probably stitch the two together - use AviSynth to decode and ffmpeg for further processing.

But in all honesty, I don't see why. Under AviSynth you have two awesome encoders, possibly the best available for free and definitely better than many commercial implementations:
- HC Encoder for MPEG2
- x264 for h264 / AVC
Unless you want some other obscure format, these should be more than enough.

Thank you Gabor, it is great news.
Could you update the Avisynth plugin as well?

Gabor,
may we expect a RedRocket powered version of your Avisynth and VirtualDub plugins?

Version 1.4 is out with some minor improvements and rebuilt using the latest SDK (2.5 that is). An update to the AviSynth plugin will follow as soon as I can spare some time for working on it.
