  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Vintage Anamorphics Vrs New Tech

To be honest, the new Anamorphic lenses from Zeiss and Cooke look too sterile. They look like cropped spherical lenses and that kind of defeats the purpose of Anamorphics in my opinion.

Shot on 80's era Kowa Anamorphics which are the lightest Anamorphics on the market. They were what was used on "Straight Outta Compton." I shot these in natural light, run and gun handheld pulling my own focus. I love these lenses and in terms of getting a cinematic look, look no further!

No lie Matt, these are some of the best images I've seen from this set.

Thanks Tom! Sorry, I didn't see this thread sooner (Reduser notification emails are sparse for some reason). His Kowas are gorgeous. We literally went through testing 4 sets and this one is by far the best out there. Panavision had evaluated them prior to receiving them and they noted it was the best set they had seen. Then once Fury purchased them, Duclos updated them with the 80mm fronts and gears and their response was it was the best, sharpest set of Kowas they had seen. So that tells you a lot about his set.

If anyone wants to shoot Kowas, definitely try out Nick Fury's set.
