Currently looking for a set of anamorphics but after playing with the cookes, im not really a fan of those. Would love something that is low con, not super slow, kind of lightweight, and aren't gross as hell in the corners.

What are some good options?

Hawk V-lite vintage '74 in either 1.3x or 2x anamorphic sets:

I can't remember the name of the lenses but the ones they used on the Neon Demon looked pretty cool

"Braier settled on Crystal Express lenses, which were made with old Cooke S2 and S3 Panchros. She was thrilled with her choice, crediting 1960s lenses with helping create the desired porcelain skin tone."

I'm under the impression they're made by Cooke and also refered to as Xtal Express anamorphics or JDC Cooke Xtal Anamorphics.

If I'm correct, "Kumiko: The Treasure Hunter" used them with Alexa's

The Xtal Express anamorphics were made by Joe Dunton in the UK from Cooke Speed Panchros and also Zeiss Super Speeds: http://www.cinematography.com/index.php?showtopic=4690&page=1

Panavision bought JDC and it's assets in 2007, including the existing inventory of JDC scope lenses: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/panavision-reels-joe-dunton-147855

You can now rent these lenses from Panavision.

good luck finding Hawk of any type other then the original C type that show up once in a while.

Mini hawks' CA is really bad... comparing to modern lenses, it's just too much.

May be ordinary people wouldn't notice that, may be most of the anamorphic lenses have it anyway...

That makes me nervous to use any of anamorphic lenses.....
