Hi,

Is it possible to view the Red footage through a SD monitor?
Tried connecting one through the BNC but no footage is seen.

Is there a way to make this work?

Hi Vigen,

What's the correct way to do so?

This one look nice, but do you have anything with analog output like YPbPr and Composite ?

The decimator does Composite SD, if you wan´t component SD you need to go for the AJA HD10MD3 http://www.aja.com/html/products_converters_HD10MD3.html

Love the AJA but not the price :(

For the price of the AJA, you can buy a nice HDMI Monitor and some HDMI Cable for a HD prieview.
If you don´t need SD for a Digiclamp or for th Directors Watchman, i would stay on the HD SDI/HDMI Route.

Down converting a signal will its still show red menus

If you down convert a red signal to a SD signal for viewing on a SD monitor would it still give you the same info you would get on a RED LCD?

It should all be there and viewable, but you'll almost certainly have difficulty reading the smaller fonts and info on SD as these will be downscaled quite a bit. You should be able to make out the exposure histogram and framing though. You'd need to test the screen and converter in question to see what is lost in the downscale.

However, why go SD when you can get pretty decent and cheap solutions with HDMI feeds and run them off the RED HDMI? e.g.:

This is just one of many examples of tiny LCD monitors that take HDMI feeds. I am pretty certain that there is probably more variety and better prices available in the USA. There are some great 7inch monitors around too for tiny prices which would be more than adequate as framing aids.
